Program by the Day
This is our daily and weekly program. It is designed to mirror a typical working week and what some people might do with their weekends.

Monday to Friday.

8am to 10am. All clients must be out of bed. They will need to have breakfast before going to our supervised gym for an hour.

10am to 12 noon. Therapy which includes group and one on one sessions.

12 to 1pm. Lunch. Sometimes we will send you to one of the nearby cafes or restaurants. We do this as a way of showing you that you can have lunch in an environment where alcohol is just a step away. We know that any drug can be found quickly within the community you will return to and don't believe in hiding away from the world as a means of finding recovery. Instead we believe that recovery when found means you're able to participate in all of life's activities regardless of the actions of those around you.

1pm to 3pm Therapy. Group or one on one sessions.

3pm to 5.30pm. Relaxation. This might include massage, swimming, reading. It may even include you going out to do some shopping. There are no locks on the doors. Clients enter Serenity because they have made a decision to get well. If you want to go out and give using or abusing another chance then feel free to be our guest, however if you're done with hurting yourself and your family then we will help you see that the real world can be yours for the taking.

5.30pm to 6.30 pm. Food preparation and dinner.

6.30pm to 8pm. Journal writing. We have every client start a journal from day 1. This allows us to see how you're travelling. It also allows you to read this important tool when you leave or after being with us for a few weeks. The journal is your road map in a way, a map that shows where you have been and where you are going.

8pm to 10pm. Free time. You might watch a movie, play a video game, read or catch up with friends and family via your laptop or phone.

10pm. Lights out.

Saturday.

8am to 10am. Arise, breakfast and gym.

10am to 12 noon. House work. Yes we have each client maintain their own living spaces and yes you get to do your own washing. This is what most of you would have done back in your world. Some of you may have been lacking a little in this area or maybe you were rather well organized.

12pm to 1pm. Lunch.

1pm to 5.30pm. Outing. This may be everyone going as a group to the markets, perhaps sending you sailing out onto the beautiful Auckland Harbour or we might have you all go to the movies (popcorn included).

5.30pm to 6.30pm. Dinner prep and dinner time.

6.30pm to 8pm. Journals.

8pm to midnight. Movie night. Some of our movies are about drug use, some are about abusive behaviors. We pick the movies with the idea being to show you glimpses of your past lives through eyes now not intoxicated just how things REALLY were with your own life. An unusal type of therapy however one that we find very effective.

Midnight. Lights out.

Sunday.

You get to lie in to 10am. However some of our clients choose to take advantage of our supervised gym which is open 7 days a week. Others choose to take a early morning walk around the beautiful waterfront where we are located. Before you entered Serenity many of your actions you had little or no control over, our program is designed to give you BACK that control.

10.30 am. Brunch. Some Sundays one of our care givers may bring in fresh eggs, bacon, fruit, croissants, the Sunday papers' and cook you a good old fashioned Kiwi breakfast. Or we may choose to send you out to one of the 20 nearby restaurants. Which ever option we use we are sure you will have a wonderful and healthy start to your day.

12pm to 1pm. If by chance you didn't eat enough at brunch then its lunch time.

1pm to 6pm. Family visits. You can either have your visitors come and see you at our location or if you want you can have your family members take you out for the afternoon.

6pm to 6.30pm. Fish and chips. That's right, on Sunday night it's fish and chips. For those of you who prefer something different we will gladly provide a meal to your liking.

6.30pm to 8pm. Journals.

8pm to 10pm. Free time

10pm. Bed.

While we try very hard to keep to this schedule sometimes due to the weather, sickness or unforeseen circumstances not every thing goes to plan. Like you we are only human and even the best laid plans can change. We are happy to say this is a rare occurrence.
